The Chris Huskilson Emera Scholarship was created in 2018 to honour former Emera President & CEO Chris Huskilson. Valued at $40,000, the scholarship is awarded to an Atlantic Canadian student attending an Atlantic Canadian university in a program related to natural sciences, technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, or math. Recipients receive $10,000 per year for four years. They're also eligible for a paid 12-week internship and will work with a senior mentor from one of Emera's companies.
Applications will open in January 2027
The Emera Employees' Children Scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable $2,000 award available to children/dependents of regular employees and retirees of Emera Inc., Emera Energy, Emera New Brunswick, and Emera Newfoundland & Labrador. Recipients may have the opportunity to participate in a paid internship at Emera Inc. Past winners are permitted to reapply each year.
William is a graduate of Mount Pearl Senior High School in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland & Labrador. He is the recipient of the 2026 Chris Huskilson Scholarship, which is awarded to an Atlantic Canadian grade 12 student entering post-secondary education to study science, technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, or mathematics. This four-year scholarship also offers an opportunity to work at Emera Inc. for a paid 12-week internship. In September 2026, William will begin his studies in an electrical engineering program.

Hania is a graduate of Charles P. Allen High School in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is a recipient of the 2026 Emera Employees’ Children Scholarship, which is awarded each year to a child of an Emera employee. Hania’s father, Abdul Shakur, is a member of Emera’s Commercial Investments Team. This fall, Hania will begin her Bachelor of Arts studies at Dalhousie University. She hopes to pursue a future career in law, public policy, and advocacy, where she can contribute positively to her community.
