Scholarships are an important part of our commitment to helping to build safer, stronger and more innovative communities. We believe by supporting students, we're helping to foster the leaders of tomorrow— not just future leaders in our business, but in our communities as well.
In addition to the numerous scholarships and bursaries awarded by our operating companies, Emera awards two scholarships each year— the Chris Huskilson Emera Scholarship and the Emera Employee's Children Scholarship.
The 2021 Emera Scholarship Program is now closed to applications and will reopen early in 2022. See below for more information about the scholarships we offer.
The Chris Huskilson Emera Scholarship
The Chris Huskilson Emera scholarship was created to honour former Emera President & CEO Chris Huskilson, who retired in 2018. Valued at $40,000, the scholarship is available to an Atlantic Canadian student attending an Atlantic Canadian university for studies in the related areas of science (natural), technology, engineering, entrepreneurship or math. Recipients of the scholarship are eligible for $10,000 per year for four years. Recipients also receive a paid 12-week internship and will work with a senior mentor from one of Emera’s companies.
