Mike Roberts

Chief Human Resources Officer, Emera Inc.

Mike Roberts, CPA, CA, has been serving as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Emera Inc. since 2014. In this capacity, he oversees the company’s people strategy. He collaborates closely with the leadership of operating companies on various aspects of talent management, which include performance management, leadership development, inclusion and diversity, total rewards, and talent attraction. Notably, in 2020, Mike led the organization's pandemic response, working in collaboration with all of Emera’s businesses. Additionally, he is responsible for the Office of the Chief Digital Officer at Emera Inc.

Before joining Emera, Mike was the Vice President of Corporate Development at Irving Shipbuilding, where he managed communications, human resources, labour relations, health, safety, and security. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Bell Aliant, including Vice President of Human Resources and Vice President of Regulatory and Government Affairs, and served as the President of Optimum Talent Atlantic.

Mike is actively engaged in the community, currently serving on the Board of Regents for Mount Allison University. He also previously held numerous volunteer board positions, including Vice Chair for Develop Nova Scotia and board member roles at COVE, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation.

 A graduate of Mount Allison University, Mike earned the Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation and is accredited as an ICD.D by the Institute of Corporate Directors.
