Christopher Huskilson
President and CEO, Emera Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia

Chris has been a director and the president and chief executive officer of Emera Inc. since November 2004. He is also a director of Nova Scotia Power Inc. and chairman of Bangor Hydro-Electric Company. He has held a number of other positions within Nova Scotia Power Inc. and its predecessor, Nova Scotia Power Corporation, since joining the company in 1980.

As well as serving as either chair or director of a number of other Emera-affiliated companies, Chris also dedicates his time to such external organizations as the Greater Halifax Partnership, the Nova Scotia Community College and the Energy Council of Canada. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick.

Nancy Tower

Nancy became chief financial officer of Emera Inc. in 2005, after holding senior positions at NSPI in corporate finance and operations including controller and, most recently, vice president of customer operations. Prior to joining Emera, Nancy worked with Grant Thornton, A.I. Tower and Ernst & Young. Throughout her career, Nancy has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills and solid financial acumen.

Nancy enjoys giving back to her community. She currently serves on the board of trustees of QEII Hospital Foundation, as an executive member of the board of directors of CAA Maritimes, and as vice chair of the board of directors of Nova Scotia Business Inc. Nancy is the former president of the Nova Scotia Institute of Chartered Accountants and a graduate of Dalhousie University.

Rob B

Rob Bennett
President and CEO, Nova Scotia Power Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia

Rob was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Nova Scotia Power Inc. in June 2008. His previous position with the Company was Executive Vice-President, Revenue and Sustainability.

Before rejoining Nova Scotia Power in September 2007, Rob served for two years as President and Chief Operating Officer of Bangor Hydro-Electric Company in Maine . Prior to his tenure as President at Bangor Hydro, he was General Manager, Transmission and Distribution Asset Management.

Rob joined Nova Scotia Power in 1988. He held positions as a staff engineer, protection engineer, Superintendent of Annapolis Hydro and Regional Manager for the Northeastern Region. Rob serves on the Board of Directors of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, and is a director of the Children's Wish Foundation.

Wayne Crawley

As Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development, Wayne has been playing a key role in transforming Emera Inc. into a diversified energy company.  His leadership focus is on business development, portfolio investments, corporate communications and corporate strategy.  

 

Wayne is dedicated to the community and is the chair of both The Atlantic Provinces Economic Council and Nova Scotia Junior Achievements Hall of Fame.  He also serves on the Boards of Trade Centre Limited, ENTx Capital Corporation, a Calgary based private holding company, Open Hydro Corporation, Grand Bahama Power Corporation and Palooka's Gym.  Wayne is an active member of the Atlantic Canadian Chapter of the Young President's Organization and in 2001 Wayne was honoured as one of Canada's Top 40 under 40.

Sarah MacDonald

Vice President, Human Resources, Emera Inc.; President and COO, Emera Utility Services, Halifax, Nova Scotia

Sarah has been vice president of human resources for Emera since 2001. She is also the president and chief operating officer of Emera Utility Services, the largest utility services contractor in Atlantic Canada. Prior to joining Emera, Sarah worked in employment law, labour relations and human resources, primarily in the health care field.

Sarah takes pleasure in donating her time to her community, currently serving as chair of the IWK Children's Hospital's Centennial Committee, and recently serving as chair of the Phoenix Youth Programs. She is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Human Resources Association of Nova Scotia and is a Certified Human Resources Professional. Sarah graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1992 and received her M.B.A. from St. Mary's University in 2002.

Ray Robinson

Ray Robinson, P. Eng.
Vice President, Integrated Operations, Emera Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia

Ray is vice president of integrated operations for Emera, and, as such, he is responsible for the closing and integration of new acquisitions into the Emera organization. This mandate has included three years as the president and chief operating officer of Bangor Hydro-Electric Company. He remains as vice chair of its board, as well as serving on Lucelec’s board of directors. He also served terms as president of Emera Utility Services and a Joint Owners Committee member of Bear Swamp Power Company.

Prior to Emera, Ray was the president and chief executive officer of Yukon Energy Corporation, as well as holding various senior positions at West Kootenay Power and Nelson Hydro in British Columbia, St. Catharine’s Hydro and Canadian Niagara Power in Ontario, Bowater Mersey Paper Company in Nova Scotia and the City of Calgary Electric System in Alberta.

 

Rick Smith

Rick Smith
Corporate Secretary, Emera Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia

Rick serves as corporate secretary of Emera's affiliated companies in Canada and as an officer of Emera's affiliated companies in the United States. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Bangor Hydro-Electric Company. During the privatization of Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI) in 1992, he was a lead management representative, and during the reorganization of NSPI and the creation of Emera Inc. in 1999, Rick was lead counsel.

He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, the Institute of Corporate Directors, the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries, and the Council of Senior Legal Executives.

A native of Nova Scotia, Rick has a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary's University and a law degree from Dalhousie University.

Robert Hanf

Bob was recently appointed president and chief operating officer of Bangor Hydro-Electric. He had previously served as general counsel for Emera and its affiliates since 2002. Prior to Emera, Bob was a partner with the law firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP.

Bob is a member of the Canadian and American Bar Associations, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, and the Canadian Petroleum Law Foundation.

Placing a high value on community leadership,  Bob currently serves as a board member of the United Way of Eastern Maine as well as an advisor to the Manna Ministries, an agency working in the greater Bangor area to provide basic necessities to those in need. He is a graduate of the Dalhousie University Law School. Bob recently completed the Directors Education Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors at the University of Toronto.

Robin McAdam

Robin is president of Emera’s Brunswick Pipeline. He previously held the position of director of Emera corporate development, where he worked on various development projects and was project manager for the Northeast Reliability Interconnect. Prior to joining Emera, Robin was principal in charge of KPMG's Atlantic Canadian Business Strategy Consulting Practice.

Robin gives back to his community as chairman of the Business and Community Development Committee of the Saint John Board of Trade, and member of the board of directors for the Atlantica Centre for Energy. Robin has a B.B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University and an M.B.A. from Queen's University.

Jim Spurr

James Spurr
General Counsel and Vice President, Government Relations, Emera Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia

James recently joined Emera Inc. as general counsel and vice president of government relations. In previous roles, he practiced law in the energy sector for EnCana Corporation, and spent 20 years practicing in the public service of Nova Scotia.

James is a member of the executive of the National Environment, Energy, and Resource Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, and currently serves as vice chair of the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Law Section of the Nova Scotia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. James is also a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Canadian Bar Association and various other professional organizations.

In 2007 James was pleased to endow the James Spurr Environmental Law Bursary at the Dalhousie Law School with funds to help a second or third year student studying environmental law at Dalhousie. He completed a B.Sc. at Saint Mary's University in 1974 and an M.B.A. from the same institution in 1976. James graduated from Dalhousie University Law School in 1980. He was admitted to the Bar in Nova Scotia in 1981.

Wayne O'Connor

Wayne is Emera Energy’s chief operating officer. With extensive experience in the energy marketing business, Emera Energy and its clients benefit from Wayne’s knowledge of electricity and gas markets, derivatives, and risk management techniques. Wayne has been with Emera Energy since 2003, previously holding the position of vice president, operations.

Prior to joining Emera Energy, Wayne worked with TransCanada Power, a division of TransCanada Pipelines, where he managed a professional staff of traders and schedulers for both electricity and natural gas in Western Canada and the Western U.S.A. Previously, as Director, Eastern Trading for the company, Wayne traded physical and financial products and managed all trading and corporate hedging focused on Eastern Canada, Michigan, Wisconsin and the United States Northeast.

Wayne has a Bachelor of Management, Marketing, from the University of Lethbridge.
