Lucelec – Safety Rates High
St. Lucia Electricity Services Ltd. (Lucelec) serves more than 50,000 customers on the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean. It is a vertically integrated electric utility with exclusive license to generate, transmit and distribute electricity on the island until 2045. Emera owns 19% of Lucelec, with its 77 MW of generating capacity and 800 kilometres of electricity transmission and distribution assets. As a cost of service utility, Lucelec has a minimum rate of return of 10% on a 50% equity base. The company also measures its performance against their promotion of environmental stewardship and their latest safety rating, which was the highest ever at 97.1%. |  |  |
