History of the Project

 

2008 - In an effort to support the Government of Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia Power’s renewable energy targets, Interwind Corp (formally Skypower Corp.) and Scotian WindFields propose the Digby Wind Power Project.  The proposed 30 MW wind farm (20 turbines) will be located in the Municipality of Digby.

 

April, 2009 – Interwind and Scotian WindFields Inc. registered the Environmental Assessment Registration Document with the Nova Scotia Department of Environment.

 

August, 2009 – The Nova Scotia Department of the Environment granted environmental approval for the Digby Wind Power Project. The approval has a number of conditions including the relocation of 3 turbines.

 

2009 – The Nova Scotia Department of the Environment granted environmental approval for the relocation of 3 turbines to the western portion of the project site.

 

January, 2010 – Emera acquires the Digby Wind Power project and signs a development agreement with Scotian WindFields.

 

February, 2010 – Emera re-submits the Environment Assessment Registration Documents to move three additional turbines to the Western portion of the project site.
