Barbados Light and Power Co.

Barbados Light and Power Company is the only utility on the island of Barbados and serves 120,000 customers. It has three power plants generating a total of 239 MW of electricity. Light and Power Holdings (LPH) is the parent company of Barbados Light and Power Co.

Emera is the majority shareholder in LPH with 80.15% interest. In May, 2010, Emera made its first investment of 38% and then an additional 41.43% in January, 2011. The remaining shares of LPH are primarily held by 1,700 Barbadian shareholder accounts, including the National Insurance Board of Barbados.
