Emera Approves Quarterly Dividend

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, October 5, 2007 , (EMA-TSX): On October 5, 2007 the Board of Directors of Emera Inc. approved a quarterly dividend to $0.2275 per common share. The dividend is payable on and after November 15, 2007 to common shareholders of record at the close of business on November 1, 2007.

Pursuant to the Income Tax Act (Canada) and corresponding provincial legislation, Emera Inc. hereby notifies its common shareholders that such dividend declared qualifies as an eligible dividend.
