Emera Announces Leadership Appointments

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, October 12, 2007 , (EMA-TSX): The Board of Directors of Emera Inc. announced today that Robert Hanf has been appointed to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of Bangor Hydro-Electric (BHE). He replaces Rob Bennett, who will be returning to Nova Scotia in the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Revenue and Sustainability of Nova Scotia Power Inc.(NSPI) NSPI and BHE are wholly owned subsidiary of Emera Inc.

Mr. Hanf was previously General Counsel for Emera Inc., and has played a significant role in Emera's commercial transactions.  Prior to joining Emera in 2002 , Mr. Hanf was a Partner in the law firm of McCarthy Tetrault LLP, specializing in energy law.

Mr. Bennett has worked within the Emera group of companies for the past 19 years. Before joining Bangor Hydro in 2002, he held a variety of positions at Nova Scotia Power including Regional Manager Northeast, Staff Engineer, Protection Engineer and Superintendent of Annapolis Hydro. In his new role, Mr. Bennett will be accountable for directing two significant areas of the business – environment and customer service excellence.
