Chris Huskilson new Emera CEO
HALIFAX, November 5, 2004 - The Board of Directors of Emera Inc. has appointed Chris Huskilson President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding David Mann who has retired. Mr. Huskilson also joins the Board of Directors of Emera and Nova Scotia Power.
“It is a privilege for me to have the opportunity to lead Emera's team at this exciting time in the energy business,” said Mr. Huskilson. “Together we will continue to focus on providing customers with reliable, low cost energy, and at the same time, deliver the steady earnings that will help us to attract investment in new business opportunities here in Nova Scotia and beyond.”
Mr. Huskilson, 47, began his career with Nova Scotia Power, Emera's largest subsidiary, in 1980. He has held a broad range of increasingly senior positions including Senior Operations Engineer; Generating Plant Manager; Vice President of Transmission & Distribution; and Executive Vice President of Operations. He was named Chief Operating Officer of Emera in July, 2003.
“I have been fortunate to have David Mann's guidance over the past several years, and thank him for his contribution to Emera's success,” said Mr. Huskilson.
Mr. Huskilson has also been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Emera's subsidiary, Nova Scotia Power Inc., and Chairman of Bangor Hydro-Electric Company.
Mr. Huskilson is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia; the Canadian Electricity Association; and the Executive Committee of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Governors of the Nova Scotia Community College and serves on the Board of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick.
