NS Power: New Power Rates Take Effect
Halifax, Nova Scotia, December 4, 2002: New power rates for customers of Nova Scotia Power have been approved by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board. For residential customers it means an increase of 3 % or $2.30 a month.
Customers will receive notification of the changes in their regular power bill, beginning in December, 2002. Starting December 9th, they can also visit the company's web site at www.nspower.ca and use an online bill calculator to see the changes to their individual account.
Here's how the rates break down:
- Residential customers will see an increase of $2.30 a month, or 3% on average monthly bill of $75.
- Small businesses, such as corner stores, retail outlets, and small restaurants, will see an average increase of 16 cents a month, or .4 %.
- Medium-sized business such as shopping malls, restaurants, motels, warehouses, schools, and medium-sized hospitals will see an increase of $18 a month, or 2%.
- Most industrial customers will see increases ranging from 2.6 % to 4.5%.
This ruling from the Board confirms its October decision which approved an average increase of 3% across all customer classes.
