Nova Scotia Power Investigating Fatality in Sydney
Halifax, Nova Scotia, June 14, 2002: Nova Scotia Power has confirmed that a power line technician, 37 year-old Michael Murrin, was killed this morning as a result of an accident involving a transport truck. Mr. Murrin was working with a crew to replace a power pole when the accident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on the Mira Road in Sydney. There were no live power lines involved in the accident.
Chris Huskilson, Chief Operating Officer of Nova Scotia Power Inc., said: "This is a very sad day for all of us. We will do all we can to support Mike's family and his co-workers."
Nova Scotia Power accident investigation personnel are on site and are cooperating fully with police and Department of Labour investigators.
