Shareholders joining the meeting by webcast and teleconference
will be able to comment on motions during the meeting, and
participate in the question and answer session at the end of the meeting,
by telephone and e-mail.

Shareholders are reminded they have the opportunity to vote by
telephone or internet, as provided for by the proxy, by
Tuesday, May 5, 2009, with extended hours to midnight for
shareholders’ convenience.

Given the "essential services" nature of most of our businesses,
Emera Inc. takes seriously the heightened concerns of the potential
influenza pandemic. In light of these concerns, Emera is
enhancing the webcasting and teleconference options for its
Annual General Meeting.

The company is encouraging shareholders to take advantage of the
webcast and teleconference offerings, although they can attend in
person, if they wish.
