Our Commitment to the Community

Every year, Emera employees work tirelessly raising money to support the many worthy organizations in the communities where we live and work. Emera is proud to support our generous employees by giving them time off to volunteer, and helping them raise funds for community organizations by making matching corporate contributions. Emera and its employees particularly focus their efforts on improving the lives of children.

Emera’s Beliefs on Giving

With so many worthy causes in need of assistance, how does Emera decide which organizations and programs to help?

• We give where we live. We want our employees to see the differences our contributions are making in the communities in which we live.
• Based on the guidance we have received from our employees, we contribute to causes that improve the lives of children in our communities.

In 2008 Emera made significant 3 year commitments to organizations that help improve the lives of children in our communities.  Children’s Wish, Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia and Alice Housing’s “Healing the Bruises” Programme.
